Poverty Alleviation and Transformation of Nigerian Economy : A Panacea for Achieving Equitable Education in Nigeria

Abstract

This paper discusses poverty alleviation in transforming Nigerian economy as a
means of achieving equitable education. It therefore attempts to define the
concept of poverty alleviation. It also looked at the approaches of transforming
Nigerian economy. Effects of poverty on equitable education in Nigeria were also
looked at, as well as poverty alleviation strategies in Nigeria. It therefore
recommended that the official development institutions are to be empowered for
effective performance to alleviate poverty, promote private initiatives to enhance
technology and all-round rural development geared toward eradication of poverty
and achieving the goal of sustainable development in Nigeria
