Achieving Inclusive and Equitable Quality Business Education Programme in Nigeria through Adequate Funding
Abstract
Business Education programme is a skill development programme and capital intensive in nature. In view of this, inadequate funding will hinder the achievement of its objectives. This paper tries to identify reliable and efficient ways of achieving inclusive and equitable quality business education programme in Nigerian colleges of education through adequate funding. The paper discusses the concepts and objectives of business education, the need for proper funding of business education programme. Effect of poor funding and implementation of business education programme for achieving inclusive and equitable quality business education. The paper x-rayed the constraints militating against the adequate funding of business education to include, corruption, misappropriation of funds, wastage, inadequate budgetary provisions among others. It was recommended that colleges of education should diversify sources of generating revenue to complement government efforts. In addition, federal government should increase budgetary allocation to improve business education programme in federal colleges of education to achieve equitable quality business education programme.
