THE INFLUENCE OF ENTREPRENEURSHIP EDUCATION ON STUDENTS’ OPPURTUNITY IDENTIFICATION IN COLLEGES OF EDUCATION IN KATSINA STATE

Abstract

This study investigates the influence of Entrepreneurship Education on students’ ability to identify a viable business venture. The population of the study consist of 200 level students of General Studies Education 224 of 2015/2016 Academic Session, totalling about 2000, from which a sample of 200 students were randomly selected. The instrument for data collection was a structured questionnaire with a reliability coefficient of 0.78. data were analysed using Likertype rating scale. The findings of this study show that Entrepreneurship Education had a significant relationship with opportunity identification. The study recommends that the National Commission for Colleges of Education (NCCE) should review Credits Unit allocated to Entrepreneurship Education Course to actualize the objective of its introduction into Tertiary Institution and Course content need to be revised and broken down into implementable content, spread to all the Levels of NCE.
