TEAM TEACHING: AN APPROACH TO ENGLISH FOR SPECIFIC PURPOSE (ESP) PEDAGOGY

Abstract

This paper discussed English for Specific Purpose (ESP) as a new approach to English teaching methodology, in which the content is based on the needs of the learner. The emergence of ESP and material and organization was discussed. The paper also defined team teaching, why team teaching is used as a method and planning to implement team teaching. Merits and demerits of team teaching were discussed and conclusion was made. The paper further proffers recommendations among which is, urging government to provide additional infrastructure in schools.
